UK Butter and cream prices continue to increase
The tight availability of butter in the UK continues to drive prices for both unsalted lactic butter and cream higher during the week. Multiple market sources indicated that the availability of butter remains tight. Several producers indicated that the UK butter production continues to run behind expectations, and with milk intakes declining these producers have been reported actively sourcing additional volumes of cream to cover their demand to ensure a fluently running butter production. While it was indicated that this will not impact short-term supply security for the consumer, this is expected to add further upward potential to dairy fat prices during H2 2024.
