Expana proposes to launch Frozen Chicken Expana Benchmark Prices

Expana is proposing to launch 8 new weekly Expana Benchmark Prices (EBP) for frozen Polish chicken cuts. Expana is collecting feedback on this proposal from market participants until Friday, 8th November 2024.

If the industry supports this proposal, Expana suggests launching the weekly assessments on Thursday, 28th November 2024.

The proposed specifications for the assessments would be as below:

The proposed assessments would reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time.

The proposed assessments complement Expana’s existing EU chicken coverage providing additional insight and granularity into the frozen chicken cuts market.

Poland is the largest chicken producer in the EU,  accounting for approximately 22% of the EU’s total chicken production. Frozen chicken cuts such as breast fillets, inner fillets, wings, drumsticks and leg quarters from Poland are heavily utilised in the retail and food service sectors across the region. The proposed assessments would provide a set of reliable benchmarks in what is traditionally an opaque market.
