Expana to launch Polish Chicken Expana Benchmark Prices

November 14, 2024

Following a period of market feedback, Expana has decided to launch 8 weekly Expana Benchmark Prices (EBP) for the chicken market in Poland. The publication of the new assessments will start on Thursday, 28 November 2024.

The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on Wednesday, 23 October 2024, which can be viewed here.

The specifications for the assessments will be as below:

The assessments will reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 London time. The proposed assessments complement Expana’s existing EU chicken coverage providing additional insight and granularity into the frozen chicken cuts market.

Poland is the largest chicken producer in the EU, accounting for approximately 22% of the EU’s total chicken production. Frozen chicken cuts such as breast fillets, inner fillets, wings, drumsticks and leg quarters from Poland are heavily utilized in the retail and food service sectors across the region. The proposed assessments would provide a set of reliable benchmarks in what is traditionally an opaque market.
